Firmware Updates for non-Touchscreen Models

Found on this page are firmware updates for previous-generation single-head Happy machines with CompactFlash ports. Models included, (shown here) are the 1201 Voyager with 9″ color LCD screen, 1201 Voyager with 2-line text-only LCD display, and HCD-1501.

3.11 for Windows 64-bit Operating Systems (Vista64, Windows 7, XP64, Windows 8, Windows 10) Use this firmware update if you have a standard control panel (i.e. non-color LCD monitor) to update and need to connect your machine via live USB connection to a 64-bit version of Windows (most copies of Windows 7 are 64-bit, and many copies of Vista are. Some versions of Windows XP are 64-bit, but the majority are 32-bit

 3.02 Updater (for standard control panel model): Use this updater if you have a Generation 2 Voyager (with the black plastic sewing arms) and wish to use the wide cap field available on newer Voyagers. Also contains some miscellaneous improvements including USB connection performance.  NOTE: Generation 3 Voyagers with the metal arms should already be at 3.02. The download is a 1.1 Mb ZIP that includes PDF instructions and data file. This firmware update requires a serial connection and cannot be done via USB cable.

  ADDITIONAL NOTE: If current version is prior to 2.00, firmware 2.00 MUST be installed first before updating to 3.02.

Firmware Updates for HCS-1201 Voyager with 9-inch Color LCD Control Panel

1.05 Updater (for Color LCD version only) Use this updater if you have a Voyager with a color LCD control panel and need to update to Version 1.05, which includes the additional sub-menu under “OPTION” for machine or design settings, which allows the “Stitch Sweeper” to be applied to designs transferred in via USB. Notes about the way this feature works: For round hoops, the red margin indicator in the Frame display will be accurate IF you enter the dimensions accurately for the custom hoop you’re setting up. For rectangular/square hoops, you MUST test-trace designs carefully until you’re comfortable that you’ve set the size accurately.

1.14 Update (for Color LCD models, Updated March 5, 2010 ) Includes USB-COM connection for 64-bit USB connection, new Basic operation mode

1.16 Update (for Color LCD models): (Updated April 6, 2010 ) includes USB-COM connection for 64-bit USB connection (works for 64-bit versions of Windows 7 and Windows Vista, Windows 8 and Windows 10) ability to input custom frame outlines, frame awareness mode, report function, production report functions, error report function, 1-screen maintenance mode startup, Remembered Offset in Frame mode, ability to select hoop at startup.

Firmware Updates for HCD-1501

1.24 Firmware Update This ZIP file contains the 6 files necessary to update your HCD-1501 1-head machine to Firmware 1.24, which includes the following. It also contains 2 .dst sew test files – the 15-needle tension test and Happy crest.

Detailed instructions for updating to firmware 1.24: See Section 2 of this PDF document. Changes in 1.24 include:

    • Compatibility with 64-bit versions of Windows including 64-bit Vista, 64-bit Windows 7, 8 an 10, with addition of USB-COM mode
    • New updates for Frame “awareness”
    • ability to import custom hoop outlines with remembered offset in Frame screen

1.24 Firmware Update, Spanish Language This ZIP file contains the 6 files necessary to update your HCD-1501 1-head machine to Firmware 1.24, with the same changes as above, except that all text appears in the Spanish language.
