Tension Test Designs

Troubleshooting

Direct PC Connection Setup

How to connect your HAPPY HCA, HCG, or HCM machine directly to a PC

If you’re looking for an alternate method of sending designs to your HCA, HCG or HCM machine other than the floppy drive, there is a way to send designs from a PC with a 9-pin serial port to the 25-pin RS-232 port on the side of the control panel. (NOTE: If your machine does not have this 25-pin port on the side of the control panel but rather in another location, the chances are that this port will not work for this application.
What’s Required
1.
Compatible HAPPY HCA, HCG or HCM machine
2. Windows-based PC with a 9-pin serial port and an available COM port
3. Special connection cable (25-pin to 9-pin) for this application. You can purchase this cable from

Can I copy designs from my HCA/HCG/HCM control panel back onto floppy diskette? Yes! Press the Program [O] key, choose Floppy. Using the Write option, you can save a design back onto the floppy diskette. (Warning – write speed is very slow. Be sure to allow adequate time for the design to be written to floppy.)

What kind of floppy disk does my HCA/HCG/HCM machine read? Use a standard, PC-formatted floppy diskette. You can use a double-density or high-density floppy.
What formats can the disk reader on my HAPPY machine read? HCA/HCG/HCM machines can read the following: HAPPY (.tap), .dst, .exp, and FDR.

Topic: Loading and Setting up Designs
Question Answer
Can I program the needle colors on my monitor to match the order I’ve set up my thread cones on the machine? Yes! Press the Program [O] key and choose Color. You’ll see a list of 12 or 15 colors corresponding to each needle on your machine. Use the arrow keys to select one, then press ENTER. A new screen will appear in which you can use the left/right arrow keys to select an available color. You can also adjust the brightness value of any color in the palette with the up/down arrow keys. With the color and shade you’ve selected, press ENTER to set the current needle to that color. Repeat the procedure until all needles are programmed.
I have a design in my control panel that took forever for me to set up the colors in. If I want to load a new version of that design in, can I keep the color sequence and transfer it to the new version? Yes! At the Needle sequence screen (from Program [O] key) press SHIFT+ the +/- key. An option to either entry or load appears. Choose the first option to put the color sequence in memory. After you’ve done this, you can even delete the design. Then, load the new design, go back to the needle sequence screen, press SHIFT / +/-, then choose Load to put the stored color list to the new design.

190 Cut blade Thread cut knife is not at stop position. Check if the stop position limit switch on the thread cut actuation unit on the left side under the machine table contacts the dog.When the stop position limit switch is no longer in contact, return switch to previous position, in the following manner:(It is recommended that you reference the diagrams in your manual to continue)
1. Remove solenoid cover on the left side under the machine table (2 screws).
2. Insert flathead screwdriver between solenoid stopper and plunger and turn the main shaft toward arrow mark by bringing plunger up.
3. Insert flathead screwdriver to the hilt.
4. Turn main shaft toward indicator arrow amrk and set to 10 deg. beyond “C” on the adjustment wheel. If the main shaft appears abnormally heavy while turning, remove needle plate and check thread cut knife.
5. Remove the flathead screwdriver from the solenoid.
6. Replace solenoid cover and needle plate cover.
7. Turn main shaft position to “C” mark on adjustment wheel.
193 Catcher Thread catch hook is off its properly-retracted position. Limit switch to detect position is not “OFF”. 1. Check if one of the heads that is not trimming properly. If so, cut and return thread catch hook to retracted position.
2. If threads are all cut, check to verify that thread catch hook on head has returned to its position completely.

What types of cards work?

Accessing the Needle Bar Selection Unit

If you need to manually move the heads to a different needle, need to verify needle center position, etc, access the needle bar selection unit, which is found between head #1 and the control panel, by removing the set screw shown in the diagram, which in turn allows you to slide the cover to the right, as has been done in the diagram. The needle bars can be manually selected with an appropriately-sized spanner (open-ended) wrench in the location shown. When the “indication lamp” (shown in the diagram) is lit, it indicates that the moving head has now properly centered the selected needle bar over the needle plate.

For iPunch users who are seeing the message “this demo program has expired” when trying to launch the software after Windows clocks rolled into the year 2011, we are posting new install versions of the program are posted here.

Temporary fix: for those whose PCs have no date-critical applications, setting the Windows clock to a date before 2011 has been a successful temporary work around until you are able to install the fixes below.

IMPORTANT! BEFORE INSTALLING THE FIXES BELOW, BE SURE TO SET THE WINDOWS DATE/CLOCK TO PROPER TIME.

iPunch Version 7 and 8 Updates and Extras


Instructions for Updating iPunch Version 7 or 8

1. Download the appropriate update file from one of the links below. If you purchased Version 7 (serial number 4120 and below), download the install file for Version 7, and vice-versa for Version 8. To do so, right-click on the appropriate link and choose “Save Target As” from the menu that appears. Choose the directory into which you’ll be saving the file and choose Save. It is recommended that you download it to a location on your hard drive, not your desktop or floppy. BE SURE TO REMEMBER WHAT DIRECTORY YOU SAVED IT INTO. Also note that the file is approximately 5Mb and is too large for a floppy diskette. If it needs to be transferred to another computer, burn it onto CD or other high-capacity storage format such as zip drive or USB drive. When finished, you should have downloaded the following 2 files to a directory of your choosing:

2. Uninstall iPunch . If you already have iPunch 7 and/or 8 installed on your computer, be sure to uninstall this first by clicking on START, then SETTINGS or CONTROL PANEL, and finally select ADD/REMOVE PROGRAMS. Remove both the Texmac iPunch 7 and/or Texmac iPunch 8 program and iPunch 7 and/or 8 dataset.

3. Find the master/key file or diskette containing this file. If you don’t have this, you may download it from the section below entitled “iPunch Security File.” Save this to a floppy diskette and insert into the floppy drive.

4. Run the update file you downloaded. Just double-click on the file, which should be named setup7_110703 or setup8_012904. Follow the prompts of the install program until the program installs fully. If the program fails to install or launch, re-try the process carefully. Make note of any errors that occur and contact us at 704.393.6558 or send e-mail tosoftsupport@texmacusa.com.

5. Reinstall your program dataset. Do this by running the dataset85 file that you downloaded.

 

iPunch Version 7.0 Full Program Update


Release Date November 7, 2003
Download this file if you have purchased iPunch Version 7 (this is for serial numbers 4120 and under). You must have a Security Dongle connected to your PC to install this file, and the master/key file present on one of your computer’s drives.
Additionally, the new version works with the iPunch Version 8.5 dataset.

Instructions for Updating iPunch@Home to Version 3.5, January 29 edition

If it needs to be transferred to another computer, burn it onto CD or other high-capacity storage format such as zip drive or USB drive. Repeat this procedure for the dataset. When finished, the following 2 files should be saved to your computer in the directory that you chose:

3. Run the update file you downloaded. Newer versions of iPunch 7, 8 and iPunch@ Home that are currently in the evaluation process are posted in the space below. Upon final approval, we expect them to provide for you improved performance with feature enhancements and fixes! You may download these for your evaluation purposes. In doing so, it is understood that you will abide by the terms of our beta testing agreement to help us test and evaluate each version’s readiness for release. Improvements in iPunch 7 November 7 2003 Release

– Reassignment of default font family to SEDS Satin or TTF satin for Home
– Settings in General tab in Settings Manager updated to all function correctly
– Bug fix for editing non-outline based stitches
– Improvements for file output/menagement for the following formats: FMC, FDR, ZSK
– Changed the status display in the lower-right hand corner to Current Layer.
– In Color Pad, the selected color is drawn bigger.
– During Slow Redraw, click “GoTo Next Stitch Group” or “Back To Last Stitch Group”, function exits.
– Preserve content in Aerial View during Slow Redraw.
– Changed the txt “Change document In/Out Points” to “Change Design In/Out Points”. (All)
– ‘Change Font Type’ code rewritten for smoother operation
– Lettering in ‘Box/Diamond/Line/Object’ code rewritten for smoother operation
– Added Import EMF file as Image
– Added ‘Open’ ehf files. (8.5)
– Added ‘Open’, ‘Save As’ Home formats. (8.5)
– Able to preview and use ‘Open Type’ fonts, including Wingdings etc.
– Added installation of a dll file required for writing to dst.

Improvements in iPunch 8.5 and iPunchHome 3.5 Versions


Improved TrueType Font output:
Additional controls to allowing user to cap corners and/or cut serifs. Program now outputs the letters directly to customer-desired size and completely accurate to the TrueType font’s shape.Improved TrueType Font Management: Improvements made to read a wider variety of TrueType fonts, and cleaner transitions when hot-swapping between TrueType fonts.

 

Greatly Improved Recipes: Better-named stitch recipes with more thorough testing behind them will make it easier for users to get great output without having to worry about understanding stitch parameters. Both programs will now open to a recipe called “default” with good basic settings. Overall, much easier to get professional-quality sewouts with very little effort.Improved Vector File Importation: iPunch has much better importation of .EMF and .WMF files.

Improved Performance: Much more efficient and much better-tested code will result in the program being able to run faster on a given computer.

Spanish Support – By double-clicking the language.bat file, you can change the program to Spanish in 1 easy step.

Bug Fixes: Current iPunch Home Jan 21, 2004 release corrects bug discovered Jan 20, 2004 where user unable to set 1-line satin stitch width.

iPunch Security File
T
he full iPunch version 7 and 8.5 requires a security file as well as your security dongle(key) when installing the main program. You may download that file here by clicking on the link below. Use this file If you receive a message that your system is timed out or if you receive the error message “security device not found” when trying to start your iPunch program. To do so, reinstall iPunch with this file, which should fully reactivate your program permanently.Click here to download and install the security file. Important: to do so, right-click on the link and choose “Save Target As”. Save the file as ipunch.cap. Windows may try to re-name it to ipunch.htm or ipunch.cap.htm, which will result in errors. iPunch Version 6.7
